The Seat Ibiza 6J is one of the most popular cars to modify in the UK, particularly the FR, which comes with the suspension, styling, and approachability. For a lot of owners, the Ibiza FR is the first car they’ve genuinely cared about and the first one worth modifying properly. Rally style mudflaps tend to be where that starts. The lower arch panels take a constant hit from road debris, the car sits close to the road even on standard suspension, and a set of properly fitted mudflaps genuinely completes the look in a way that’s hard to achieve with any other single modification at the price.
This guide covers which Ibiza 6J models the kit fits, what the fitting process involves, the lowered car question that comes up more on the Ibiza than almost any other car in the range, and what to expect from the PolyWard kit. If you’re still researching what separates rally style mudflaps from universal panels, see our guide to the difference between rally mudflaps and rally style mudflaps.
Which models does this kit fit?
The PolyWard Ibiza 6J rally style mudflap kit fits all hatchback models of the Seat Ibiza Mk4 6J built between 2008 and 2017. That includes:
- Seat Ibiza FR – all years and engine variants
- Seat Ibiza Cupra – all years
- Seat Ibiza SC (3-door) – all years
- Seat Ibiza 5-door – all variants
- All standard Ibiza 6J hatchback trims
The kit is shaped and cut for the 6J arch profile specifically. It is not a generic set listed as compatible with a broad range of cars. If your V5C records a Seat Ibiza built between 2008 and 2017, this mudflap kit will fit your car.
Fitting: what’s involved
The Ibiza 6J kit uses existing arch liner mounting points for both front and rear. No new holes need to be drilled into the bodywork; the kit works with what’s already on the car.
Front mudflaps: The front fitting removes the two original arch liner fixings, aligns the supplied bracket with the holes on the front mudflap, and reattaches everything using the supplied hardware. The front mudflaps can technically be fitted with the wheels on, but access is significantly easier with the wheel removed.
Rear mudflaps: The rear fitting is more involved than the front, and the sequence matters. The key rule is to fit everything loosely first. Don’t tighten anything down until all fixing points are in position and the mudflap is hanging straight and aligned correctly. Once you’re satisfied with the alignment, work through the screws in sequence. The top fixing on the rear uses a self-tapping screw into the arch liner plastic. This is the point where you need to be certain the position is right before committing, because it’s difficult to adjust cleanly afterwards. Get the alignment confirmed visually from a distance before that screw goes in.
What’s included in the kit:
- 2 front mudflaps and 2 rear mudflaps shaped for the Ibiza 6J arch profile
- All required brackets, screws, spacers, and washers
- Printed vehicle-specific fitting instructions
Fitting all four corners typically takes one to two hours. The general fitting guide at PolyWard rally style mudflap fitting guide covers the universal principles. The vehicle-specific printed instructions with diagrams are in the package with the mudflap kit.
The lowered car question

This comes up more on the Ibiza than almost any other car in the PolyWard rally style mudflap range. The FR, in particular, is popular to put on lowering springs, and a lowered Ibiza is a good-looking car that benefits significantly from rally style mudflaps, both visually and practically. Given how close it sits to the road surface, you can get a really aggressive, smart look with a slight drop and some mudflaps.
The free trimming service applies here exactly as it does for every PolyWard rally style mudflap kit:
- 10-20mm drop: no trimming needed
- 20-30mm drop: approximately 10mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
- 30-40mm drop: approximately 20mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
- Aggressive or slammed: 25-30mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
Just mention your drop in the order notes, ideally in millimetres. The flaps arrive trimmed and ready to fit. No driveway trimming required after fitting.
What colour should you choose?
If this is your first modification purchase and you’re not sure, black is the safe choice, and it’s what everyone else buys, too. Red, white, and blue are available if you truly want something a bit unique, or to fit with a special colour scheme you are working on. If you are going for an OEM+ or lightly modified look on the Ibiza 6J, black is the only colour that consistently looks right, regardless of the exterior colour the car came in. Whether your Ibiza FR is in Midnight Black, Racing Grey, Glacier White, or any other factory colour, black mudflaps work.
The Ibiza FR community is fairly unanimous on this. Black mudflaps are purposeful without being shouty, and they complement the FR’s existing styling without competing with it. If you’re asking which colour to choose, it is black.

Logo options
PolyWard Seat Ibiza mk4 rally style mudflaps are available in plain colours: solid black, blue, red or white with no logo, or with the PolyWard logo in two variants: the small P mark or the full PolyWard text logo. Both are available in multiple colours on the black mudflap.
Plain black is the most popular choice by a significant margin. No manufacturer badge logos are offered; using Seat, Ford, BMW or any other brand’s badge artwork without authorisation is copyright infringement.

Does this kit fit the Ibiza FR Sport, FR+, Cupra or other special editions?
Yes, any Ibiza FR variant built on the 6J platform between 2008 and 2017 uses the same arch profile and the same kit fits. The FR Sport, FR+, and limited edition Cupra variants all fit. If your car is a 6J generation Ibiza, this is the right kit.
Will fitting mudflaps affect my insurance?
Mudflaps are a minor modification, and most insurers treat them as a non-material change that won’t affect your premium. That said, any modification to your car should be declared to your insurer. A quick call or online declaration takes a few minutes and protects you in the event of a claim. Most mainstream and specialist insurers won’t change your premium for mudflaps, but it’s worth confirming with yours directly.
