Abarth 595 and 695 Rally Style Mudflaps: Fitment Guide and Buyer’s Guide

The Abarth 595 and 695 are cars built around character. From the exhaust note, the performance upgrades, to the distinctive styling. Owners modify them because the car rewards it, and rally style mudflaps are one of the modifications that work particularly well on the 500 platform. The compact arch profile suits a precision-fit mudflap cleanly, and the lower bodywork benefits from proper protection, given how close the car sits to the road.

This guide covers fitment across the full Abarth 500, 595 and 695 range, the specific rear mudflap detail that’s unique to the Abarth exhaust layout, and what to expect from the PolyWard kit.

If you’re still researching what separates rally style mudflaps from universal mudflaps, see our guide to the difference between rally mudflaps and rally style mudflaps.

Which models does this kit fit?

The PolyWard Abarth mudflap kit fits all Abarth 500, 595, and 695 models. Every variant and every special edition, regardless of year. The Abarth 500 platform has seen a significant number of named special editions over the years: Esseesse, Turismo, Tributo Ferrari, Scorpioneoro, Ricardo Patrese, Monster Energy, and many others. The architecture is the same across all of them. If your car is built on the Abarth 500 platform, this kit fits.

The kit also fits the standard Fiat 500, which shares the same platform. Fiat 500 owners looking for mudflap protection rather than the full enthusiast modification are welcome – the product is identical, and the fitment is the same.

The rear mudflap details are worth knowing

The two rear mudflaps in this kit are not identical to each other. One is shaped differently from the other to compensate for the Abarth exhaust position. The inside edge geometry within the wheel arch differs between the driver’s side and the passenger’s side rear.

Once fitted, both rear mudflaps look identical from outside the car. The visual result is symmetrical. The difference is in the section that sits within the arch and accommodates the exhaust routing on one side. The printed instructions included with the kit clearly identify which rear mudflap goes on which side. Follow the instructions before fitting, and this is a straightforward detail. Ignore it, and you’ll find one of the rear mudflaps doesn’t sit correctly and is too close to the exhaust.

This is worth knowing before you start because it’s the one step in the Abarth fitting process that has no equivalent on any other vehicle in the PolyWard range.

Fitting: what’s involved

The Abarth kit requires wheel removal for the best result. The front arch liner mounting points are more accessible with the wheel removed, and the rear fitting is significantly easier without the wheel in the way. The instructions recommend jacking up the car and removing each wheel in turn.

Front mudflaps: The front fitting starts with the top fixing point. Hold the mudflap in position, mark the spot at 165mm from the start of the metal front arch, and drill a 6mm hole in the plastic inner wheel arch for the 27mm fitting plug with the 7mm spacer behind the mudflap. Once the top fixing is in place and the mudflap hangs straight, add the lower fixings. Four fixings per front mudflap give the best result.

Rear mudflaps: Identify which rear mudflap goes on which side before fitting; left and right are not interchangeable on the Abarth due to the exhaust compensation. The rear fitting uses a combination of spacers, plugs, and screws specific to the arch liner profile on each side. The instructions include a diagram showing the exact spacer sizes and fixing positions for both the left and right rear. Take your time on the rear fitting, since the spacer positions matter for a clean result.

Note: the fittings and plugs grip the arch liner firmly once secured and are difficult to remove cleanly. Get the position right before pushing anything home permanently.

Full general guidance is in the PolyWard rally style mudflap fitting guide. The vehicle-specific printed instructions with diagrams are in the box.

Fitting all four corners typically takes two to three hours on a first attempt, given the wheel removal and the more involved rear fitting process.

Lowered Abarth suspension – what you need to know

The Abarth 595 and 695 sit relatively close to the road in standard trim. Lowering is a popular modification, and the car responds well to it. However, mudflap clearance is definitely worth thinking about before ordering if your car is lowered or you intend to lower it in the future.

The free trimming service applies here exactly as it does across the rest of the PolyWard range:

  • 10-20mm drop: no trimming needed
  • 20-30mm drop: approximately 10mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
  • 30-40mm drop: approximately 20mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
  • Aggressive or slammed: 25-30mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch

Mention your approximate drop in the order notes, and the flaps arrive trimmed and ready to fit.

Material and specification

We use 4mm PVC throughout, the same specification used across every PolyWard rally style mudflap kit. Flexible enough to absorb impacts, UV-stable, and built for year-round UK road conditions. No budget tier, no thinner alternative. For more in-depth information on what materials we use and why, see our Hard Plastic vs PVC Rally Style Mudflaps post that covers the differences in materials.

Colour and logo options

Four colours available: black, red, white, and blue.

For the mudflaps themselves, black is the most popular choice on the Abarth; it works against every exterior colour in the range and complements the aggressive styling of the 595 and 695 without competing with it. Red also suits black and red cars, and can work with the white and grey Abarthetti particularly well, since red references the Abarth racing heritage. White works on white and grey cars. Blue is the least common choice but works well if your colour scheme is built around it.

Logo options are: simply plain solid colour mudflaps or with the PolyWard logo. There are two logo variants: the small P mark or the full PolyWard text logo, available in multiple colours across all four mudflap options. No manufacturer badge logos, Abarth scorpion or similar brand artwork is not offered.

Does this fit my specific special edition?

Yes, every Abarth special edition built on the 500 platform uses the same arch profile and the same kit fits. Esseesse, Turismo, Tributo Ferrari, Scorpioneoro, Ricardo Patrese, Monster Energy, and all other named variants are covered. If your car is an Abarth 500, 595, or 695, this kit fits regardless of which edition it is.

Will fitting mudflaps affect my insurance?

Mudflaps are a minor modification, and most insurers treat them as a non-material change. Declare any modification to your insurer; a quick call or online declaration takes a few minutes and protects you in the event of a claim. Most mainstream and specialist insurers won’t change your premium for mudflaps, but worth confirming with your insurer directly.
