Outside. PolyWard pre-cut sunstrips fit to the outside face of the windscreen. Opaque vinyl sunstrips are always made for outside fitting. The outside face gives clean lines against the glass, correct positioning above the swept area, and a straightforward application process. Inside fitting is not a viable option for this type of product.
Where the Confusion Comes From
Full-screen window tints, which are a different product entirely, are fitted to the inside face of the glass. Most people have that job done professionally because fitting tint film to the inside of a curved windscreen is difficult and unforgiving work. Buyers who have had tints fitted, or who have fitted them, sometimes assume a sunstrip works the same way. It does not.
A window tint is a semi-transparent film designed to reduce light transmission across the whole screen. A sunstrip is an opaque band sized to cover only the top section. Different products, different materials, different application methods.

Why Inside Fitting Does Not Work for Sunstrips
The inside face of the windscreen is not a clean run of glass. The rear-view mirror housing, ADAS sensor cluster, and the tight angle at the top edge all create obstacles the strip would need to work around. Every one of those points adds a cut, a join, or a compromise to the fit. The result would not sit cleanly, and getting it there would take considerably more effort than the job warrants.
On the outside face, none of those obstacles exists. The strip runs above the swept area against a clean section of glass, with the edges following the roofline and A-pillars. The lines sit correctly, and the fit is precise.
Correct outside fitting also keeps the strip above the sensor zone, which is one reason pre-cut sunstrips on rain sensor-equipped cars cause no sensor problems.
