The Ford Focus RS Mk2 is a different car from the ST225 in ways that matter for mudflap fitment. The arches are wider, the bodywork profile is more aggressive, and the mounting points differ from the standard Mk2 and ST225. The PolyWard RS Mk2 kit is a separate product from the ST225 kit; larger mudflaps shaped specifically for the RS arch profile, not the same product with a different label.
This guide covers what’s different about the RS Mk2 fit, the three front fixing options, the rear bracket situation, and what to expect from the kit.

Is this the right kit for your car?
This post is specifically for the Ford Focus RS Mk2 (2009-2011). If you own a Focus ST225 or a standard Focus Mk2 or Mk2.5, this is not the right kit. The RS mudflaps are larger and shaped for the wider RS arch profile. They will not fit correctly on the ST225 or standard Mk2.
For the ST225 and standard Mk2, see the Ford Focus Mk2 ST225 fitment guide.
For the Focus Mk3, including ST250 and RS Mk3, see the Ford Focus Mk3 ST250 fitment guide.
Why the RS Mk2 kit is different from the ST225 kit
The Focus RS Mk2 has wider bodywork and a more aggressive arch profile than the ST225. The mudflaps in this kit are larger to suit — more coverage, more presence, in keeping with what the RS is as a car. The mounting points also differ slightly between the RS and ST225 arch liners, which is why the two kits are not interchangeable.
If you’ve previously owned a Focus ST225 and are used to that kit, the RS fitting process is broadly similar, but the hardware and mounting sequence are specific to the RS. Follow the RS instructions rather than assuming they’re the same.
Fitting: what’s involved
Wheel removal is strongly recommended. Access to the arch liner mounting points on both front and rear is significantly easier with the wheels off.
Front mudflaps – two holes:
The front mudflap has two holes. The top hole lines up with an existing fixing screw already in the front inner arch; use that existing screw. The lower inside hole uses a metal self-tapping screw into the inner plastic arch liner.
The lower outer edge of the front mudflap has three fixing options. All hardware for each method is included in the kit:
Option 1 – Fir tree plug into the side skirt lip: drill a 7mm hole through the mudflap and into the lip of the side skirt, then push the fir tree plug through to secure. Clean, secure, and the most permanent method.
Option 2 – Self-tapping screw into the side skirt: screw directly through the mudflap into the side skirt. The most reliable method in practice, this is what most buyers use and gives a tight, rattle-free result.
Option 3 – Self-adhesive tape: Clean the side skirt with the included alcohol wipes and stick the outer edge in place. This works, but the tape can perish over time, particularly with exposure to road salt and temperature cycling. Worth considering if you want to avoid any penetration of the side skirt, but the screw or fir tree method gives a more durable result long-term.
Rear mudflaps – three holes plus bracket:
The rear arch liners have three existing fixing points. The rear mudflap has three holes that line up with these points, so you can use the existing fixings directly.
A rear bracket is also included in the kit. The instructions describe it as optional; in practice, it should be considered standard fitment. Without the bracket, the rear mudflap has significant movement at speed and will flap noticeably. The bracket fits underneath the mudflap onto the two lower fixings of the arch liner, with a hole at the top that requires drilling a 7mm hole through the mudflap and arch liner for a fir tree fixing plug. Use the bracket.
Full general guidance is in the PolyWard rally style mudflap fitting guide. The vehicle-specific printed instructions with the rear bracket diagram are in the box.
Fitting all four corners typically takes one to two hours.
Lowered RS Mk2
The free trimming service applies here as it does across the full PolyWard range:
- 10-20mm drop: no trimming needed
- 20-30mm drop: approximately 10mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
- 30-40mm drop: approximately 20mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
- Aggressive or slammed: 25-30mm trimmed from the bottom edge before dispatch
Mention your approximate drop in the order notes, and the flaps arrive trimmed and ready to fit.

Material and specification
All PolyWard rally style mudflap kits use 4mm PVC throughout. The RS Mk2 mudflaps are larger than the ST225 kit to suit the wider arch profile, but the material specification is the same. Flexible, UV-stable, built for year-round UK road conditions and meets MSA standards for thickness. For more information about mudflap materials, see our Hard Plastic vs PVC Rally Style Mudflaps guide.
Mudflap Colour and logo options
Four colours are available for the Focus RS mk2 mudflap kit: black, red, white, and blue.
Black is the most popular choice on the RS Mk2; it suits every exterior colour the RS came in and reads as purposeful rather than decorative. Blue works well on the Performance Blue RS, which is the most iconic colour combination for this car.
For logos, the mudflap kit is available with no logos, as a plain solid colour or with the PolyWard logo. There are two variants of the logo available: a small P mark or a full PolyWard text logo, available in multiple colours across all four mudflap options.

Will the RS Mk2 kit fit my Focus ST225 or standard Mk2?
No, the RS Mk2 mudflaps are larger and shaped for the wider RS arch profile. They will not sit correctly on the ST225 or standard Focus Mk2. If you own an ST225 or standard Mk2, see the Ford Focus Mk2 ST225 mudflaps for the correct kit.
